Every student has a unique number assigned to them called a candidate number. You will need this when you do you GCSE/A-level exams, but you need this number to print from the laptops. You will be told it at the beginning of the year. You are advised to write your candidate number into a new Microsoft Word document and save that file into your documents.
You may have noticed some new photocopiers around the school. These can be used by students for printing from laptops and scanning images of work to your email. Printing to these devices is monitored.
You can print to one of the two printers below when you are using a school laptop.
Secure_Print_Colour – For Colour prints
Secure_Print_BW – For Black and White prints
Any documents sent to these printers that are not printed will stay for a period of 48 hours before they are automatically cancelled.
You then need to find one of the large communal photo-copiers. There are currently printers in the locations below:
The library
Upstairs in Ramshill (sixth-form only)
The D&T Foyer
The screen of the printer will look like the image below:
Tap the “ID number” option and enter your candidate number to log into the printer (as shown below).
Tap “Print Release” to print any documents sent to the printers.
Tap “Scan” and you can place a document/book flat on the glass shelf and it will send a photo of that to your school email address. Be careful not to look at the bright light on the screen when scanning.
The printer will automatically log you out after 2 minutes of inactivity.
There is a printing limit per pupil, so help the environment and don’t waste paper with excessive printing!
Appropriate sanctions will be applied to students who abuse the privilege of being able to print/scan or cause any damage to the photocopiers.
