In September 2013, Churcher’s College invested in a wireless infrastructure built by Aerohive.
What WiFi do i need to use?
WiFi Name | Use |
---|---|
ChurchersBYOD | This is the most common and most likely wireless you will want to join. On selecting this Name (SSID) you will be required to submit your windows login, also used for accessing the computers on site. (@churcherscollege.com is NOT required)TIP: Most Android wireless settings give you a lot of options when connecting. You are only required to fill in the identity and password fields. |
ChurchersEvents | When large events are being undertaken or we have a large group of visitors, the events WiFi can be used. This is a static password that everyone shares. This code is changed randomly by IT every three months or so. To use this wireless name, please raise a ticket. |
ChurchersGuest | If you have a visitor to site who requires WiFi access they will need to be given a day pass from IT. You can ask reception or raise a ticket. The code will only work for one day and will only work for one device. Many codes can be given if they have a laptop / phone etc. |
ChurchersDevices | This is reserved for use by the IT team as setting up assets that belong to the College. |
Churchers | This is reserved for use by the IT team as setting up assets that belong to the College. |
ChurcherPool | This SSID gives users the same level of access as ChurchersGuest, in fact it adds you to the guest network. The difference is that this is a static code like the ChurchersEvents to ease the use for external users. This SSID can only be found in the pool building. |
Important KB |
---|
Once you are connected to the Wireless, you will need to complete the following KB to allow access to HTTPS websites. Without this step you will find accessing external resources very hard without issue. |

My device is locked to Churcher’s or ChurchersDevices
Some devices owned by Churcher’s College are locked to Churcher’s or ChurchersDevices, this is because the machine is configured in such a way that makes it unable to operate without a valid internal wireless connection. For example, Users desktops are redirected to a server at login, if the wireless is disconnected the user will not be able to see any of their documents. Very little is held on the device so a solid connection to our network is required. The device is locked so users don’t think they need to change it to BYOD to use it. This would break the link and keep them logged in when someone else uses the device.
